Religious and racial harmony
Recently, Pastor Rony tan, Senior pastor and founder of Light House Evangelism church has stirred up some controversy over Religions. His comments on Buddism and Taoism had indirectly insulted the two religion and sparked on online dicussion on this matter. Pastor Rony was sharing his comments with his church when some former buddists who has became christians came on stage to testify their stories. And becaused of that, he has gotten into trouble with the ISD(internal security department) and the two respective religious faiths.Fortunately for him, the ISD has only gave him a warning and his personal apology to the two leaders of buddism and taoism have been accepted. What his mistake was grave as it could have treathened the religious and racial harmony in Singapore. All of us come from different faiths and races, but that has not stopped us from staying united as a nation. Pastor Rony comment's could have caused many conflicts between religions which nobody wants. We can persuade people to come to know a religion and change his or her faith. But we should never criticise or look down on other religions as that is disrespecting other religions. We cannot possibly go around saying that Malay are bias to one another in a conflict which involves other races. Just because most malays are muslims, such comments should not be said. Other races would not like being criticised over their skin colour or races. This would ultimately harm the growth and unity of Singapore. Thus one should show mutual respect to other religious faiths and races.
Does exercising play a major role in our lifes-Cross Country Meet
Does exercise really play an important role in our daily lifes? With the hectic life of most people in all age category, one would have difficulty finding time to exercise. Rather, most of them would be too tired to exercise when they come back home. This has caused laziness in people to exercise even if they were given a choice. With the trend of unhealthy lifestyles in youths and adults alike increasing, people are certain to bear the consequences if they continue this way.Actually exercising has a lot of benefits to us. Exercising at least 6 times a week and 30 minutes for each session is the ideal length of time one should exercise. Exercising also can reduces the risk of a person getting diseases such as, heart disease, cancer, diabetes and many others. Exercising can also help you keep in shape or lose weight. Rather than regularly going to slimming centres, why don't you try the most efficient and cost-freindly way of slimming down. It can also help obese people to lose weight, it only depends on whether one is willing or not. So there shouldn't be any reason like being tired or laziness to keep you away from exercising. This Wednesday is Hwa Chong's annual cross-country run. The entire school including all staffs will be running too. The purpose of the annual cross-country meet is to make sure that students and staffs keep a healthy lifestyle by exercising regularly. It consists of a Mass Run and a Competitive one. I will be participating in the competitive race so I hope I will not have any problems on that day itself. i believe the school's effort to hold this cross-country meet annually is good as it allows students to come together and run for a day and it also stresses on maintaining a healthy lifestyle by exercising regularly.
Lunar New Year
It's Chinese New Year again and this year is the lunar year of the tiger. This is also the year which many couples in Singapore refused to have a child. The reason? The dinstinctive traits of a tiger tells us why. Many superstitious people feel that a child, especially a girl would be impatient, hot-tempered and aggresive if they are born in the year of a tiger. However, those are only believed b the superstitious chinese in Singapore and not everyone is like that. Personally I don't believe in superstitious stuffs like this because I feel they make no sense at all. Besides this year being the year of the tiger, it is also the first lunar new year for me as a Sec 1. Secondary life has been rather demanding so far and yet it is only the beginning. For me, I also cannot visit people's house although my religious faith is Christianity, unless they do not mind the fact that my grandfather passed away last year. This year was quite meaningful though. After a ceremony in Hwa Chong, I gathered with 11 of former classmates who are also in Hwa Chong at the clock tower before proceeding to our primary school to visit our teachers. Upon reaching there, we were reunited with many former classmates too. We then went around looking for teachers to wish them a Happy New Year. Nostalgia filled within me as we chatted, walked around the school and join in the celebrations. I recalled how My friends and I were playing soccer on the parade square and cracked jokes together. After the visiting, we even went to an Italian restaurant as a class for luch and chatted about anything that we could. But good things will end somehow.Soon, it was time for us to go. Although this chinese new year wasn't the best, but it was one of the most unique and memorable ones for me. I eagerly look forward to the next class meeting, where fond memories will return.

Second phase of education
"What, more homework!! Ai ya, die liao lah. Teacher can give lesser homework or not." These were the pleas all the students of my generation have for our teachers.
Then back in Primary 6, I always thought that this was the toughest challenge, the PSLE. But, I was wrong. Primary 6 was indeed the toughest challenge, at least for then, just yet.Back then, on most occasions when we were given a set of assignment to do, we simply complaint all day long. Easily, we could hurl endless lines of complaint. Too many homework, too many tests, can't cope, stress. Those were the possible complaints you would hear from us.
It was only until now that I realise life as a primary 6 student, was peanuts. Secondary school life varies greatly from that of the primary one. As we mature physically and mentally, the way people treat us changes. People don't treat us as little kids anymore. Rather, they feel that we are at the stage where development is vast, when we become more independent. Many things that can be tolerated in the past cannot be the same as it was now. Life in secondary school requires us to be more independent in our studies as well as handling important issues. And of course there will be mandore assignments and regular tests. In fact, assignments and tests are not the only issues that matters now. Seminars Camps, CCA, and the list continues. We are required to juggle our life which consists of all these events that will occur in secondary school. But all these have their own benifits. Without these, our development process would be much slower. They are like the ingredients in a dish which nurture or mould us into what we are. Moreover, this second phase of my educational life is the toughest, yet. So my advise to those in primary school is to stop procrastinating and start now.

Life in Hwa Chong
I still remembered the moment, the day i entered Hwa Chong. Everyone was a stranger to me apart from a few other former schoolmates and classmates. Most of us did not even bulge our mouths when told to cheer or play a game.(which required talking). This was what was going through on my mind: What are we going to do for the next approximately 12 hours in this huge chunk of land? As we were later separated into 22 groups, we were ordered by all seniors(buddies) to give a brief self-introduction of ourselves. i could still picture the image of a fellow hwa chongnian who cowered under a table upon reaching his turn. practically the whole day was about cheers, cheers and cheers.Oh yes and occasional hwa chong squeeze :D.The next 2 days were about Ep3 orientation and Cheers competition. All i was a bit upset about not winning the competition, nothing could match the experience that i had during the 3 day orientation. I realised that this was my second home even as the school council president gave us a pep talk on life in this school. This hwa Chong, my second home.
